James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Sixth Sense) has composed the original music for the upcoming romantic drama A Hidden Life. The film is written and directed by Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line, Days of Heaven, Badlands) and stars August Diehl, Valerie Pachner, Michael Nyqvist, Jürgen Prochnow, Martin Wuttke, Maria Simon, Franz Rogowski, Matthias Schoenaerts and Bruno Ganz. The movie tells the true story of Franz Jaegerstaetter, an Austrian farmer who, after Germany annexed Austria in 1938, refused to fight for the Third Reich. Grant Hill (V for Vendetta, Cloud Atlas) is producing the project with Dario Bergesio, Marcus Loges, Josh Jeter and Elisabeth Bentley. The composer has recorded his score last year in London. A Hidden Life will premiere next month at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
Howard’s other upcoming projects also include Disney’s Jungle Cruise and David Yates’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3.
