Nathan Halpern (The Rider, Minding the Gap, One Percent More Humid, Rich Hill) is scoring the upcoming indie psychological thriller Swallow. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Carlo Mirabella-Davis and stars Haley Bennett, Austin Stowell, Elizabeth Marvel, David Rasche and Denis O’Hare. The movie follows a newly pregnant housewife who finds herself increasingly compelled to consume dangerous objects and must confront the dark secret behind her new obsession. Mirabella-Davis also wrote the screenplay. Mollye Asher (The Rider), Mynette Louie (The Tale, Gemini), Carole Baraton and Frederic Fiore are producing the project. Joe Wright (Atonment, Darkest Hour) serves as an executive producer. Swallow will premiere next month at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival.
Halpern has also recently scored Sam de Jong’s indie drama Goldie, which premiered last month at the Berlin Festival and will also screen at Tribeca. He also co-scored the documentary One Child Nation with Chris Ruggiero. The movie directed by Nanfu Wang & Zhang Lynn about China’s One-Child policy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and has been picked up by Amazon Studios for a release later this year.
