Daniel Hart (Pete’s Dragon, A Ghost Story, The Old Man and the Gun, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints) has been tapped to score the upcoming Netflix original series The Society. The show is created by Chris Keyser (The Last Tycoon, Tyrant, Party of Five) and stars Kathryn Newton, Rachel Keller, Gideon Adlon, Jacques Colimon, Olivia DeJonge, Alex Fitzalan, Kristine Froseth, Jose Julian, Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Alex MacNicoll. The drama, which is being described as a modern take on Lord of the Flies, follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, left without any trace of their parents. Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man, (500) Days of Summer) is directing an unknown amount of episodes and is also executive producing the project with Keyser. The Society is expected to premiere later this year on Netflix.
Hart also continues to score Showtime’s SMILF, which currently airs in its second season Sunday nights and CBS All Access’ Strange Angels, which will return for its second season later this year. The composer has also recently scored Casey Affleck’s Light of My Life, which premiered earlier this month at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival.
