Carter Burwell is reteaming with director Bill Condon on the upcoming drama The Good Liar. The film starring Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen, Russell Tovey and Jim Carter is based on the book of the same title by Nicholas Searle and follows a career con artist who can hardly believe his luck when he meets a well-to-do widow. Jeffrey Hatcher (The Duchess, Casanova) wrote the screenplay. Condon (Beauty and the Beast, Dreamgirls) is also producing the New Line Cinema and BRON Creative production with Greg Yolen. Condon and Burwell have previously collaborated on such films as Gods and Monsters, Kinsey, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, The Fifth Estate and Mr. Holmes. The Good Liar will be released in 2019 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Burwell’s recent projects also include the Coen Brothers’ The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, which has been released in select theaters last weekend before premiering on Netflix this Friday, November 16. He also recently scored LAIKA’s animated feature Missing Link, which is set to open in theaters on April 12, 2019.
