Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action thriller Hunter Killer directed by Donovan Marsh and starring Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Common, Linda Cardellini and Toby Stephens. The film’s original music is composed by Trevor Morris (Immortals, Olympus Has Fallen, London Has Fallen, Vikings, The Borgias). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the action comedy Johnny English Strikes Again directed by David Kerr and starring Rowan Atkinson, Ben Miller, Olga Kurylenko, Emma Thompson and Jake Lacy. Howard Goodall (Mr. Bean TV series, Bean, Mr. Bean’s Holiday) has composed the film’s original score. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Opening in around 800 theaters is the faith-based drama Indivisible directed by David G. Evans and starring Sarah Drew, Justin Bruening, Jason George, Tia Mowry, Michael O’Neill, Eric Close, Skye P. Marshall, Tanner Stine, Madeline Carroll and Samara Lee. The film’s original score is composed by Paul Mills (War Room, Woodlawn, October Baby, Still Breathing). Opening in limited release is the supernatural horror movie Suspiria directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdorf and Chloe Grace Moretz. Radiohead member Thom Yorke has made his film scoring debut on the project. XL Recordings has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening in limited release is the drama Viper Club co-written and directed by Maryam Keshavarz and starring Susan Sarandon, Matt Bomer, Lola Kirke, Julian Morris, Shelia Vand, Adepero Oduye and Edie Falco. The film’s original music is composed by Gingger Shankar (Circumstance, American Fable, AWOL). No word yet on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows an ER nurse who struggles to free her grown son, a journalist captured by terrorists in the Middle East, premiered at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and is being released by Roadside Attractions. Also opening in select theaters is the Swedish fantasy thriller Border (Grans) co-written and directed by Ali Abbasi and starring Eva Melander and Eero Milonoff. Christopher Berg & Martin Dirkov have composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been released. The movie revolves around a border guard who has the ability to smell human emotions and catch smugglers and comes across a mysterious man with a smell that confounds her detection. Also opening in select cities is the dramatic thriller London Fields directed by Matthew Cullen and starring Amber Heard, Jamie Alexander, Jason Issacs, Theo James, Jim Sturgess, Cara Delevingne and Billy Bob Thornton. The film’s original score is composed by Adam Barber. Toydrum and Benson Taylor contributed additional music. Another limited release this week is the boxing drama Glass Jaw directed by Jeff Celentano and starring Lee Kholafai, Korrina Rico, Jon Gries, Jaime Camil, Reynaldo Gallegos, Mark Rolston, Vernon Wells and Steven Williams. Steve Davis & Tori Letzler have composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie by Jeff Osborne, GLB, Candice, Jay Sean, Bly Ty, Vory, DMX, Boosie Badazz & other artists was released earlier this week.
