Ian Hultquist (Assassination Nation, A-X-L, Animals, My Blind Brother, The Gospel According to André) is scoring the upcoming comedy drama Yes, God, Yes. The film is written and directed by Karen Maine (Obvious Child) and stars Natalia Dyer, Timothy Simons, Alisha Boe, Francesca Reale, Wolfgang Novogratz and Donna Lynne Champlin. The movie is based on Maine’s 2017 short of the same title and tells the story of 16-year-old girl who discovers masturbating after an innocent AOL chat turns unexpectedly racy, compelling her to sign up for a secretive religious retreat which she hopes will put her on the path to redemption. Chris & Eleanor Columbus (Mediterranea) are producing the project with Rodrigo Teixeira (Call Me By Your Name, The Witch) and Katie Cordeal & Colleen Hammond who produced the original short. Yes, God, Yes is expected to premiere in 2019.
Hultquist is also reteaming with director Erin Lee Carr (Mommy Dead and Dearest, Thought Crimes: The Case of the Cannibal Cop) on the upcoming documentary At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal. He is co-scoring the movie with Sofia Hultquist. The film, which centers on the sexual abuse scandal that shook the sports world in 2017, is executive produced by Sarah Gibson, Michael Cascio & Gerald R. Molen. The documentary will premiere in 2019 on HBO.
