Netflix has announced this week that hip hop producer Young Chop is providing original music for the upcoming coming-of-age drama Beats. The film is directed by Chris Robinson (ATL) and stars Anthony Anderson, Khalil Everage, Uzo Aduba, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Paul Walter Hauser and hip hop artists Dave East and Dreezy. The movie centers on a young musical prodigy with borderline agoraphobia and a former music manager who fell from grace as they collide on Chicago’s South Side. Miles Orion Feldsott (Deadly Class) wrote the screenplay. Bob Teitel (Men of Honor, Barbershop), Christian Sarabia and Glendon Palmer (Jumping the Broom) are producing the Global Road Entertainment and 51 Minds Entertainment production. Beats just began filming in Chicago last week and is set to premiere in 2019 on Netflix.
