Jon Brion has signed on to score the upcoming family family drama Christopher Robin. The film is directed by Marc Forster (Finding NeverlandWorld War ZMonster’s Ball) and stars Ewan McGregor, Hayley Atwell, Bronte Carmichael, Mark Gatiss, Jim Cummings, Chris O’Dowd, Brad Garrett, Toby Jones, Nick Mohammed, Peter Capaldi and Sophie Okonedo. The movie tells the story of Robin, the little boy from the Winnie the Pooh series, who is now all-grown-up and lost all sense of imagination. Alex Ross Perry (Queen of Earth) and Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) have written the screenplay based on characters created by A.A. Milne & E.H. Shepard. Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book) and Kristin Burr are producing the project. Jóhann Jóhannsson was originally attached to score the movie before he passed away earlier this year. Christopher Robin is set to be released in theaters nationwide on August 3, 2018 by Walt Disney Pictures.

As previously reported, Brion (Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, Lady Bird, Trainwreck, Paranorman) has also recently scored the French comedy Sink or Swim, which premiered earlier this month at the Cannes Film Festival.

I really cannot think of a much better choice than Jon Brion. I’ve loved his scores for years, really excited he’s doing the music for this, his style fits perfectly.
