John Debney is reteaming with director Tom Shadyac on the upcoming biographical drama Brian Banks. The film starring Aldis Hodge and Greg Kinnear tells the true story of Banks, an All-American high school football player committed to USC by his junior year whose life was upended in 2002 when he was falsely accused of rape. Doug Atchison (Akeelah and the Bee) wrote the screenplay. Amy Baer (Last Vegas) is producing the project with Shivani Rawat & Monica Levinson (Captain Fantastic, Trumbo). Debney has previously collaborated with Shadyac on the features Liar Liar, Dragonfly, Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty. Brian Banks is expected to premiere later this year.
Debney’s recent projects include The Greatest Showman, which is currently playing in theaters, and the thriller Beirut, which premiered last month at the Sundance Film Festival and will be released in theaters on April 18 by Bleecker Street.
Cool. Hopefully they’ll release the score.
