Academy Awards producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd today announced that Harold Wheeler was selected as music director for this year’s 90th Oscars. He returns for his fifth Oscar telecast, his third as music director following the ceremonies in 2016 & 2017. Wheeler is best known as an orchestrator, composer, conductor, arranger and record producer and has received numerous Emmy and Tony Award nominations. His television credits include the People’s Choice Awards, 17 season’s of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and AFI’s 100 Years… series. His Broadway musicals credits as an orchestrator include Hairspray, Dreamgirls, Promises, Promises and The Full Monty. He also scored a couple of movies, including Love! Valour! Compassion! and Straight Out of Brooklyn. The 90th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 4, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood.
