Joseph Stephens is composing the score for the upcoming comedy Arizona. The film marks the directorial debut of Jonathan Watson and stars Danny McBride, Rosemarie DeWitt, Luke Wilson, Lolli Sorenson, Elizabeth Gillies and Kaitlin Olson. The movie is set in the midst of the 2009 housing crisis and follows a single mom and struggling realtor whose life goes off the rails when she witnesses a murder. Luke Del Tredici (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) wrote the screenplay. McBride is also producing the project with Brandon James, Dan Friedkin (All the Money in the World), Bradley Thomas (There’s Something About Mary) and Ryan Friedkin. Arizona will premiere next month at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
As previously reported, Stephens (Observe and Report, Eastbound & Down) also has Jody Hill’s feature The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter starring Josh Brolin coming up and also scored Max Winkler’s comedy drama Flower starring Zoey Deutch, which will be released in theaters on March 16, 2018 by the Orchard. The composer also continues to score the Watson- & McBride-produced HBO series Vice Principals and is also scoring the upcoming TBS comedy series The Last O.G. created by Jordan Peele & John Carcieri and starring Tracey Morgan as a man who returns to Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant, only to find it overrun with hipster gentrification. The show will premiere in 2018 on TBS. Click here for updates.
