Stephen Schwartz (The Prince of Egypt, Pocahontas, Enchanted) and singer/songwriter Jon Ondrasik (aka Five for Fighting) will be composing original music for the ABC musical drama Harmony. The show created by Peter Paige & Bradley Bredeweg (The Fosters) and Jacob Chase is set in the town of Harmony, New York, where residents are known to sing and dance to express their emotions and follows a detective who left the town as a teenager who must return to help solve a crime. Schwartz and Ondrasik are also executive producing the ABC Studios and Mandeville TV production with Bredeweg & Paige, Jonathan Komack Martin, David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks. Jon Chu (Step Up 2: The Streets, Now You See Me 2) will direct the pilot episode and also serves as an executive producer. The pilot for Harmony has received a production commitment and is expected to shoot over the next year. (Variety)
Schwartz is also involved in Universal Pictures’ upcoming film adaptation of Wicked, for which he is writing new original songs.
