Dominik Scherrer is composing the music for the upcoming BBC mini-series The City and the City. The drama is developed by Tony Grisoni (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Tideland) based on the novel of the same title by China Mieville and stars David Morrisey, Maria Schrader, Christian Camargo, Mandeep Dhillon, Ron Cook and Danny Webb. The 4-parter follows the investigation of a detective in the Extreme Crime Squad of the fictional rundown European city of Beszel, into the death of a foreign student. Tobyn Slovo (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Grisoni, Preethi Mavahalli, Damien Timmer (Victoria, Poldark) and Lucy Richer (Top of the Lake) are executive producing the project. Tom Shankland is directing all episodes. The director has previously directed the full first season of BBC’s The Missing, for which Scherrer received an Emmy Award nomination. The City and the City is set to premiere in 2018 on BBC Two.
As previously reported, Scherrer (Ripper Street, Primeval) also has the BBC & Netflix series Requiem coming up.
Great fit.
