Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) is composing the original score for the upcoming BBC mini-series Gunpowder. The historical thriller is created by Ronan Bennett (Public Enemies) & Daniel West and stars Kit Harington, Liv Tyler, Peter Mullan, Edward Holcroft, Shaun Dooley, Robert Emms, Derek Riddell and Mark Gatiss. The 3-parter follows British activist Guy Fawkes and a group of provincial English Catholics as they plan to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I in the early 17th century. J. Blakeson (The 5th Wave, The Disappearance of Alice Creed) directed all episodes. Ollie Madden (MI-5) and Matthew Read (Taboo, Peaky Blinders) are executive producing the project. Gunpowder will premiere in the UK this fall on BBC One.
Hauschka’s upcoming projects also include The Current War, which is premiering next month at the toronto Film Festival and will be released in theaters on November 24, as well as the features Hotel Mumbai and Ashes in the Snow. The composer who received his first Academy Award nomination for Lion earlier this year also has the series Patrick Melrose coming up.
