Republic Records will release the official soundtrack album for the drama Patti Cake$. The album features the songs from the movie written by director Geremy Jasper and performed by the film’s cast. Jason Binnick also co-wrote several of the songs. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 18 and will be available to download on Amazon. Patti Cake$ is written and directed by Jasper and stars Danielle Macdonald, Bridget Everett, Cathy Moriarty, Siddharth Dhananjay, Mamoudou Athie, McCaul Lombardi, Sahr Ngaujah, Wass Stevens and MC Lyte. The movie revolves around an aspiring rapper fighting through a world of Jersey strip malls and strip clubs in quest of stardom. The indie drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in select theaters this weekend by Fox Searchlight before expanding nationwide in the next couple of weeks.
