Nathan Barr is scoring the upcoming sci-fi thriller Flatliners. The film is directed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon TattooDead Man Down) and stars Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons. The movie is based on Joel Schumacher’s 1990 feature of the same title (scored by James Newton Howard) and follows five medical students who embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience – giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. Ben Ripley (Source Code) wrote the screenplay. Actor Michael Douglas is producing the project with Laurence Mark (Jerry Maguire, I, Robot) and Peter Safran (The Conjuring, Annabelle). As reported last year, Jacob Groth was originally scoring the film. Flatliners will be released on September 29, 2017 by Columbia Pictures. Visit the official movie website for updates.

Barr’s upcoming feature projects also include Stephen Moyer’s The Parting Glass and MGM’s The Domestics. He will also return to score the sixth and final season of FX’s The Americans, as well as the second seasons of AMC’s The Son and Amazon’s Sneaky Pete.
