Jeff Russo has been hired to score the upcoming biographical comedy drama I, Tonya. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl, Fright Night) and stars Margot Robbie as figure skater Tonya Harding, Sebastian Stan as her spouse Jeff Gillooly, Allison Janney as her mother Lavona, as well as Paul Walter Hauser, Mckenna Grace, Caitlin Carver and Julianne Nicholson. The movie centers around Harding’s attack on rival Nancy Kerrigan, which was aimed at breaking Kerrigan’s leg so she couldn’t compete in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Steven Rogers (Stepmom, Hope Floats) wrote the screenplay and are also producing the project with Bryan Unkeless, Robbie and Tom Ackerley (Terminal). I, Tonya is currently in post-production and will be distributed in the U.S. by Miramax.
Russo who recently scored the third season of FX’s Fargo and the first season of Legion also has the feature thriller Lizzie, the fourth season of Starz’s Power and the new series Snowfall, Counterpart and Netflix’s Altered Carbon coming up.
