Michael Penn is composing the original music for the upcoming comedy drama Boundaries. The film is written and directed by Shana Feste (Country Strong, Endless Love, The Greatest) and stars Vera Farmiga, Christopher Plummer, Lewis MacDougall, Bobby Cannavale, Kristen Schaal, Peter Fonda, Christopher Lloyd and Dolly Wells. The movie centers on a single mother who, along with her awkward 14-year-old son, is forced to drive her estranged, care-free, pot-dealing father across country after he’s kicked out of yet another nursing home. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister, Welcome to the Punch) is producing the project for Automatik Entertainment, alongside Chris Ferguson (Air, Come and Find Me) for Oddfellows Entertainment. Boundaries is expected to premiere later this year.
Penn also continues to score HBO’s Girls, which currently airs in its sixth and final season Sunday nights. He also recently scored Susan Johnson’s comedy Carrie Pilby starting Ben Powley. The movie premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released on April 4, 2017 by The Orchard.
