Lyle Workman has been tapped to score the upcoming CMT original series Sun Records. The show stars Chad Michael Murray, Billy Gardell, Drake Milligan, Kevin Fonteyne, Christian Lees, Jonah Lees, Trevor Donovan and Kerry Holliday. The drama based on the book written by Floyd Mutrux & Colin Escott is set in Memphis and depicts the rise of musicians including Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash as the burgeoning civil-rights movement grips the nation. Gil Grant (Painkiller Jane) serves as the series’ showrunner and is also executive producing the Thinkfactory Media production with Leslie Greif (Texas Rising, Funny Money), Jayson Dinsmore (Still the King) and Julia Silverton. Roland Joffe (The Mission, The Killing Fields) is directing the first episodes. Sun Records will premiere on February 23, 2017 on CMT.
Workman (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Superbad, Bad Santa 2, Win Win) also has the HBO original series Crashing coming up. The composer is also returning to score the second season of Netflix’s Love.
