Benoit Charest is composing the original score for the upcoming documentary Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World. The film is directed by Catherine Bainbridge (Reel Injun) & Alfonso Maiorana and centers on the role of Native Americans in contemporary music history. The movie reveals how indigenous musicians helped shape the soundtracks of our lives and, through their contributions, influenced popular culture. Musicians featured in the film include Robbie Robertson, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Tony Bennett, Steven Tyler and Iggy Pop. Bainbridge is also producing the project with Christina Fon, Lisa M. Roth and Linda Ludwick (Mohawk Girls). Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World will premiere next month at the Sundance Film Festival.
Charest who received an Academy Award for the animated feature The Triplets of Belleville and whose previous scoring credits also include Mars et Avril and Upside Down also has the sci-fi thriller Radius directed by Caroline Labrèche & Steeve Léonard coming up.
