J. Ralph is set to compose the music for the upcoming romantic drama Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. The film is directed by Paul McGuigan (Push, Wicker Park, Victor Frankenstein) and stars Annette Bening, Jamie Bell, Vanessa Redgrave, Julie Walters, Kenneth Cranham, Stephen Graham, Frances Barber and Leanne Best. The movie tells the true story of the young Liverpudlian actor Peter Turner who fell in love with the older Hollywood golden age actress Gloria Grahame. Matt Greenhalgh (Control, Nowhere Boy) has written the screenplay based on Turner’s 1986 memoir of the same title. Barbara Broccoli (James Bond series) is producing the project with Colin Vaines (Coriolanus) for Synchronistic Pictures. J. Ralph who is best known for his numerous scores and songs for documentaries such as The Cove, Chasing Ice and Racing Extinction, has previously collaborated with McGuigan on the 2006 feature Lucky Number Slevin. Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool is currently shooting and will be released in the UK in 2017 by Lionsgate. (Screen Daily)
