Michael Wandmacher has signed on to score the upcoming action horror sequel Underworld: Blood Wars. The movie is directed by Anna Foerster and stars Kate Beckinsale, Theo James, Trent Garrett, Tobias Menzies, Lara Pulver, Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James, Charles Dance, James Faulkner, Peter Andersson and Daisy Head. No plot details have been revealed yet. Cory Goodman (The Last Witch Hunter, Priest) has written the screenplay based on characters originally created by Kevin Grevioux, Len Wiseman and Danny McBride. Tom Rosenberg (Million Dollar Baby, Runaway Bride), Gary Lucchesi (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Crank) and Richard S. Wright (The Lincoln Lawyer, The Boy) are producing the project for Lakeshore Entertainment, alongside Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard, Total Recall) and David Kern. Paul Haslinger has scored three of the previous four Underworld movies and Marco Beltrami composed the music for 2006’s Underworld: Evolution. Underworld: Blood Wars will be released on January 6, 2017 by Screen Gems/Sony Pictures.
Wandmacher (Piranha 3D, My Bloody Valentine, Drive Angry) also continues to score the ABC hit comedy The Goldbergs, which will return for a fourth season this fall. The composer has also taken over scoring duties on the upcoming thriller Patient Zero. The film is directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky and stars Matt Smith, Natalie Dormer, John Bradley Agyness Deyn and Stanley Tucci. The movie takes place after a global pandemic of a super strain of rabies has turned the majority of humankind into highly intelligent, streamlined killers. Vincent Newman (We’re the Millers) is producing the project. Johnny Klimek was originally attached to score the film. Patient Zero is expected to be released in 2017.
