Daniel Hart has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming family adventure Pete’s Dragon and is currently recording his score at AIR Studios in London. The film is directed by David Lowery and stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The movie is based on the 1977 classic of the same title and tells the story of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon.. Lowery also co-wrote the screenplay with Toby Halbrooks. Jim Whitaker (The Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Finest Hours) is producing the project. Barrie Osborne (The Lord of the Rings) serves as an executive producer. Hart has previously scored Lowery’s 2013 Sundance hit Ain’t Them Bodies Saints. His other scoring credits include the features Comet, Tumbledown and Return to Sender. Howard Shore was originally announced as the composer of the movie.
