Joseph Trapanese has signed on to score the upcoming war thriller Jadotville. The film is directed by Richie Smyth and stars Jamie Dornan, Guillaume Canet, Jason O’Mara and Mark Strong. The movie tells the true story of Irish Commandant Pat Quinlan who led a stand off with troops against French and Belgian Mercenaries in the Congo during in the early 1960s. Kevin Brodbin (Constantine, Mindhunters) has written the screenplay based on a novel by Declan Power. Alan Moloney (The Escapist, Albert Nobbs, Byzantium) is producing the project for Parallel Films. Jadotville is set to premiere later this year on Netflix.
Trapanese’s latest projects include The Divergent Series: Allegiant, which is currently playing in theaters nationwide. The composer whose previous scoring credits also include Straight Outta Compton, Oblivion and Earth to Echo also has the thriller Shimmer Lake coming up. The film is written and directed by Oren Uziel (screenwriter of 22 Jump Street) and stars Benjamin Walker, Rainn Wilson, Wyatt Russell, Stephanie Sigman, Rob Corddry, Ron Livingston, Wyatt Russell, John Michael Higgins and Adam Pally. The movie follows a local sheriff at the end of a weeklong investigation of a botched bank job, and takes us backwards to the beginning of the week, day by day. Britton Rizzio (American Ultra) and Adam Saunders (About Alex) are producing the Footprint Features and Writ Large production. Shimmer Lake is currently in post-production. No word yet on a release date.
