Nathan Whitehead has signed on to score the upcoming horror thriller Stephanie. The film is directed by Akiva Goldsman (Winter’s Tale, screenwriter of A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend & The Da Vinci Code) and stars Frank Grillo, Anna Torv, Shree Crooks and Kenneth Choi. The movie follows an orphaned young girl with unworldly powers who is taken in by a man and woman who claim to be her parents. Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski have written the screenplay. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Visit) is producing the project for his Blumhouse Productions company, alongside Matt Kaplan (The Lazarus Effect) for Chapter One, as well as Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Maze Runner) and Adrienne Biddle. Whitehead has previously scored a number projects for Blumhouse, including The Purge movies, The Veil, which recently premiered on Netflix and the upcoming Delirium, which is set to be released this coming May. Stephanie is currently in post-production. No release date has been announced yet.
Whitehead’s upcoming projects also include the comedy Keanu, which he is co-scoring with Steve Jablonsky, as well as The Purge 3. The composer is also composing the music for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Beyond Skyline. The film is written and directed by Liam O’Donnell and stars Frank Grillo, Bojana Novakovic, Iko Uwais, Callan Mulvey, Yayan Ruhian and Antonio Fargas. The movie is a spin-off to 2010’s Skyline (scored by Matthew Margeson) and follows a detective who embarks on a relentless pursuit to free his son from a nightmarish alien warship. Greg & Colin Strause who directed the first film are producing the project with Matthew Chausse. Beyond Skyline is expected to be released later this year.
