Edward Shearmur has been tapped to compose the music for the upcoming comedy drama Elvis & Nixon. The film is directed by Liza Johnson and stars Michael Shannon as Elvis Presley and Kevin Spacey as Richard Nixon. Colin Hanks, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Knoxville, Evan Peters, Tracy Letts, Sky Ferreira, Ashley Benson, Tate Donovan, Poppy Delevingne and Dylan Penn are co-starring. The movie tells the story of the infamous meeting between Elvis Presley and Richard Nixon in 1970, which was immortalized in the most requested photograph in the National Archives. Cassian Elwes (Lee Daniels’ The Butler, The Paperman) and Holly Wiersma (Bobby, Down in the Valley) are producing the project. Shearmur has previously scored last year’s She’s Funny That Way for the producers. Elvis & Nixon will premiere this April on Amazon. Bleecker Street will release the movie theatrically.
