Among the film composers, both Johann Johannsson and Justin Hurwitz are first time Grammy nominees. Antonio Sanchez received his first nomination for his film music, while Hans Zimmer has previously received 13 Grammy nominations (and won 4 Grammys, most recently for The Dark Knight) and Alexandre Desplat has been nominated five times for The Grand Budapest Hotel and The King’s Speech (for both of which he also won), as well as Argo, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

There’s only a few film music awards that I take seriously. The Grammys are not one of them.

This award really needs some revisions and rescheduling. They’re always a year behind thanks to whatever structure and timetable it is that they are following.
