Keegan DeWitt is composing the music for the upcoming indie drama Morris from America. The film is written and directed by Chad Hartigan and stars Markees Christmas, Craig Robinson, Carla Juri, Lina Keller, Jakub Gierszal and Levin Henning. The movie follows a hip-hop-loving, 13-years old American who moves to Heidelberg, Germany, with his father, where he falls in love with a local girl and attempts to navigate the unique trials and tribulations of adolescence. Sara Murphy (Land Ho!), Adele Romanski (Black Rock, Bad Milo), Martin Heisler and Gabriele Simon are producing the project. DeWitt has previously scored Hartigan’s last feature This Is Martin Bonner. Morris from America will premiere in January in competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
The composer whose previous credits include this year’s hit indie drama I’ll See You In My Dreams is also scoring the upcoming documentary Kate Plays Christine. The film is directed by Robert Greene and follows actor Kate Lyn Sheil as she prepares to play the role of Christine Chubbuck, a Florida television host who committed suicide on air in 1974. Susan Bedusa and Douglas Tirola (Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon) are producing the project. Kate Plays Christine will also premiere next month at Sundance.
DeWitt has also composed the score for the upcoming sci-fi drama Bokeh starring Maika Monroe & Matt O’Leary and also has the drama Hunter Gatherer directed by Joshua Locy coming up.
