Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for DreamWorks Animation’s feature Kung Fu Panda 3. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Prince of Egypt, Inception, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean) who previously co-scored the first two installments in the series with John Powell. The soundtrack will be released on January 22, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Kung Fu Panda 3 is directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson & Alessandro Carloni and features the voices of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, Bryan Cranston, Kate Hudson and J.K. So it’s official, Powell isn’t coming back?
That sucks!
No. More Hans is always good
It’s weird indeed, but I don’t think we will see Powell to soon doing animated films other than the Ice Age and HTTYD series.
But don’t worry: Zimmer never works alone. He’s probably here just to do a few themes, the bulk of the score will probably be done by the usual suspects (Balfe, Harvey, Dominic Lewis, etc.)
