Marco Beltrami and Miles Hankins have composed the original score for the upcoming holiday comedy The Night Before. The film is directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50, The Wackness) and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, Lizzy Caplan, Julian Bell, Mindy Kaling and Michael Shannon. The movie centers on three longtime friends deciding to party one last time on Christmas Eve to mark the conclusion of their 14-year-old holiday tradition. Levine has also co-written the screenplay with Kyle Hunter, Ariel Schaffir and Evan Goldberg (Superbad, This Is the End). Goldberg and Rogen are also producing the project with James Weaver (Neighbors, The Interview). Beltrami has previously co-scored Levine’s last feature Warm Bodies with Buck Sanders. The Night Before is set to be released on November 20, 2015 by Sony Pictures. For updates on the comedy, visit the official movie website.
Beltrami’s upcoming projects also include Timur Bekmabetov’s Ben-Hur and Alex Proyas’ Gods of Egypt. Hankins previously wrote additional music for a number of recent Beltrami projects, including Fantastic Four and Hitman: Agent 47. He also co-scored this year’s comedy drama Len and Company directed by Tim Godsall and starring Rhys Ifans, Juno Temple, Jack Kilmer, Keir Gilchrist and Kathryn Hahn. The movie about a legendary, reclusive music producer who has his shut-in routine disturbed by the unexpected arrival of his aspiring musician son and a troubled bubblegum-pop superstar recently had its North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. No domestic distribution deal has been announced yet.
Beltrami’s on this movie? Oh, now we know this is gonna be a critical and commercial flop.
