Mark Kilian has been hired to score the upcoming ABC drama Wicked City. The show is created by Steven Baigelman (Get on Up, Feeling Minnesota) and stars Ed Westwick, Erika Christensen, Jeremy Sisto, Taissa Farmiga, Gabriel Luna, Karolina Wydra, Evan Ross, Anne Winters and Jaime Ray Newman. The series follows a unique case set in a noteworthy era of L.A. history, starting with a murder case from 1982 centered on the rock ’n’ roll, cocaine-infused revelry of the Sunset Strip. Baigelman is also executive producing the ABC Studios production with Todd Lieberman & David Hoberman (The Fighter, The Muppets, The Proposal), Laurie Zaks (Castle) and Jon Cassar (24, The Kennedys). Wicked City is set to premiere on October 27, 2015 and will air every Tuesday night on ABC. For updates on the series, visit the official show website.
Kilian has also recently co-scored Gavin Hood’s Eye in the Sky starring Aaron Paul and Helen Mirren with Paul Hepker. The thriller premiered last month at the Toronto Film Festival and was picked up by Bleecker Street for a theatrical release in 2016. The composer’s other upcoming projects also includes the action movie Lady Bloodfight. The film is directed by Chris Nahon and stars Amy Johnston. The movie follows a troubled American backpacker in Japan whose raw fighting skills attract the attention of a karate champion who trains her to compete in an all-female underground tournament. Ben Logan (The Medaillon) has written the screenplay and Bey Logan is producing the Voltage Pictures production with Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, Killer Joe), Zev Foreman (Good Kill) and Babacar Diene. No word yet on a release date for the movie.
