Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans are reteaming with director Antonio Campos on the upcoming indie drama Christine. The film stars Rebecca Hall, Michael C. Hall, Tracy Letts, Timothy Simons, J. Smith Cameron and Maria Dizzia. The movie chronicles the true story of the final months of Christine Chubbuck, a depressed news broadcaster who infamously committed suicide on live television. Craig Shilowich has written the screenplay and is also producing the project with Melody C. Roscher (James White). Bensi and Jurriaans have previously scored Campos’ 2012 thriller Simon Killer. Sean Durkin who worked with the composers on the Sundance hit Martha Marcy May Marlene serves as an executive producer on Christine, which is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2016.
Bensi’s and Jurriaan’s recent projects include Joel Edgerton’s The Gift, which is currently playing in theaters nationwide. The composers also have Anna Rose Homer’s The Fits, which will premiere next month at the Venice Film Festival coming up. Their other previously announced projects include A Kind of Murder (previously entitled The Blunderer) starring Patrick Wilson & Jessica Biel, The Ticket starring Dan Stevens and Frank & Lola starring Imogen Poots & Michael Shannon. They also scored the indie comedy Nasty Baby directed by Sebastian Silva and starring Kristen Wiig, which will be released on October 23 by The Orchard.
