Nathan Barr has composed the music for the new Amazon Studios pilot Casanova. The show marks the TV debut of Academy Award-nominated director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie, Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, A Very Long Engagement) and stars Diego Luna in the title role, alongside Bojana Novakovic, Miranda Richardson and Ben Daniels. The period drama is set in the 18th century and follows Venetian Giacomo Casanova who escapes from prison and flees to France. Stuart Zicherman (Six Degrees, Elektra) has written the pilot script and is also executive producing the project with Jeunet and Electus’ Ben Silverman (The Office, Marco Polo). The pilot episode of Casanova is now available to stream on Amazon and viewers will decide whether the project will be picked up to series.
Barr also continues to score FX’s The Americans, which will return for a fifth season in 2016. The composer whose previous scoring credits include True Blood, Hostel, The Dukes of Hazzard and Cabin Fever is also scoring the third and final season of Netflix’s Hemlock Grove, which will premiere later this year.
