Bret McKenzie has been tapped to write original songs for Disney’s upcoming musical comedy Bob the Musical. The film is set to be directed by Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist) Tom Cruise is in talks to star in the movie a regular guy who, after a blow to the head, suddenly can hear the inner songs of everyone’s heart as his reality is instantly turned into a musical, much to his dismay. Michael Chabon (Wonder Boys, John Carter) is writing the screenplay and Tripp Vinson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), Chris Bender (We’re the Millers), JC Spink (The Butterfly Effect) and Beau Flynn (San Andreas) are producing the project. McKenzie has previously composed the songs for Disney’s 2011 The Muppets feature, for which received an Academy Award, as well as its sequel Muppets Most Wanted. No release date has been announced yet for Bob the Musical. (The Hollywood Reporter)
