David Lawrence has composed the original score for the upcoming Disney Channel original movie Descendants. The film is directed by Kenny Ortega (This Is It) and follows the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast) who is poised to take the throne and offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains. The movie’s cast includes Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Cameron Boyce, Keegan Connor Tracy, Dan Payne, Mitchell Hope, Kristin Chenoweth and Booboo Stewart. Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott (The Starter Wife, Runaway bride) have written the script. Ortega is also executive producing the project with Wendy Japhet. Lawrence has previously scored Disney’s High School Musical films directed by Ortega. His other previous scoring credits include the first two American Pie movies, as well as TV shows including Jericho, Beverly Hills 90210, Harper’s Island and Common Law. Descendants will premiere this summer on the Disney Channel. For updates on the film, visit the official movie website.
