Theo Green has recently co-scored the upcoming drama The Gambler. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and stars Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Michael K. Williams and Jessica Lange. The movie based on the 1974 film of the same title starring James Caan follows a college professor who gets caught up in the dangerous world of high-stakes underground gambling. William Monahan (The Departed) has written the screenplay. Wahlberg is also producing the Closest to the Hole and Leverage Entertainment production with Stephen Levinson (Contraband, Entourage, Irwin Winkler (Raging Bull, Goodfellas), Robert Chartoff (Rocky) & David Winkler (Rocky Balboa). James Toback who wrote the original film serves as an executive producer. As previously reported, Jon Brion has also been writing music for the film. The official soundtrack album will be released on Republic Records. Green has previously scored such films as House at the End of the Street and Dread. He also contributed additional music to Wyatt’s 2008 feature The Escapist. The Gambler will premiere next month at the AFI Fest and will be released on December 19, 2014 by Paramount Pictures.
