During this past weekend’s WonderCon in Anaheim, CA, it was revealed that composer Kevin Kiner will be composing the score for the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels. The show is set between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope and takes place in a time when the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. The series’ voice cast includes Freddie Prinze, Jr., Taylor Gray, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar and Vanessa Marshall. Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Jumper) is executive producing the Lucasfilm Animation production with Dave Filoni and Greg Weisman (Young Justice). Kiner (CSI: Miami, Hell on Wheels) has previously scored Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars and will incorporate John Williams’ themes from the Star Wars features into his score for the new series. Star Wars Rebels is set to premiere this fall on the Disney Channel and Disney XD. For updates on the animated series, visit the official show website.
