Robert Duncan has been hired to score the Lifetime original movie The Gabby Douglas Story. The film is directed by Gregg Champion (The Cowboy Way, Amish Grace) and stars Imani Hakim and Sydney Mikaylain the title role as the first African American ever to be named Individual All-round Champion in artistic gymnastics at the Olympics. Mikayla will portray Douglas during her childhood while Hakim will play the gold medalist as a teenager and young adult. Regina King has been cast as Douglas’ mother and S. Epatha Merkerson as her grandmother. The drama’s script written by Maria Nation (The Two Mr. Kissels). Zev Braun & Philip Krupp (Edges of the Lord, A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story) are executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production and David Rosemont (Lifetime’s Bonnie & Clyde) serves as a producer. The Gabby Douglas Story is set to premiere in 2014 on Lifetime.
The multiple Emmy Award-nominated composer (Last Resort, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Unit, Terriers) also continues to score ABC’s hit drama Castle, which is currently in its sixth season.
