Metropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album for Peter Berg’s action drama Lone Survivor. The album features the film’s original music composed by Explosions in the Sky and Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, Ender’s Game). The post-rock band previously composed music for Berg’s Friday Night Lights and Jablonsky scored last year’s Battleship for the director. The soundtrack will be released digitally overseas on December 20, 2013 and in the U.S. on January 21, 2014. Visit Amazon to pre-order the album and to check out audio clips. Lone Survivor is written and directed by Berg and stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Eric Bana. The drama tells the story of four Navy SEALs on an ill-fated covert mission to neutralize a high-level Taliban operative who are ambushed by enemy forces in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The movie will be released in Los Angeles and New York on December 25 by Universal Pictures and will expand nationwide on January 10. To learn more about the film, visit the official movie website.

Correction, it tells the “true” story.
Radio, movie studio runner and television host/producer Glenn Beck is good friends with Luttrell (the surviving SEAL) and asked him how it was, since you never know what Hollywod may do to the truth; Luttrell said it was very accurate, and that some of the scenes, look just ike the nighmares he still has to today.
Do you know where this soundtrack is available? I’m not finding it in the usual places for the U.S… although a clip(s) plays on the official website currently.
According to this article, it’s been release digitally by now, but I didn’t see anything about a physical CD.
Really disappointed this isn’t out yet. Nothing on iTunes and when you go to the Lone Survivor site there’s an option to click on ‘buy the soundtrack’ but then it says it’s no where to be found. I saw this movie yesterday and I’ve been looking for the soundtrack every hour since. It’s amazing.
I just looked on Amazon’s website and it has the release date listed as next Tuesday, January 21, 2014. I saw the film this past Saturday (1/11/14) and loved it. It really captured the essence of the book, which I also loved.
There’s album named Lone Survivor in Spotify. Great stuff.
