Peter Gregson is composing the score for the upcoming British period comedy A Little Chaos. The film is directed by Alan Rickman who also stars in the film alongside Kate Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Stanley Tucci, Helen McCrory and Jennifer Ehle. The movie follows two rival landscape gardeners who compete to design a fountain at Versailles for Louis XIV. Alison Deegan has written the screenplay. Gail Egan (Half of a Yellow Sun, A Most Wanted Man), Andrea Caldrewood (The Last King of Scotland) and Bertrand Faivre (Julia, Farewell) are producing the BBC Films, Lipsync and Lionsgate U.K. production. The comedy marks Gregson’s first major film scoring assignment. He is best known as a cellist and has performed and premiered concert works by such composers as Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Steve Reich, Tod Machover, Daníel Bjarnason, Joby Talbot, Steve Reich and Howard Goodall. Rickman has previously collaborated with late composer Michael Kamen on his 1997 directorial debut The Winter Guest. A Little Chaos will be released in 2014 in the UK by Lionsgate. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
