Director Scott Derrickson has announced on Twitter that he will be reteaming with composer Christopher Young on the upcoming supernatural police thriller Beware the Night. The movie stars Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn, Joel McHale and Sean Harris. The film follows a New York street cop who has put his faith in religion behind him, but now finds himself targeted by the devil in the form of possessed soldier. Derrickson has co-written the screenplay with Paul Harris Boardman (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Urban Legends: Final Cut). Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean series, National Treasure, The Rock) is producing the project through his production company Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Young has previously collaborated with Derrickson on The Exorcism of Emily Rose and last year’s horror hit film Sinister starring Ethan Hawke. Beware the Night is set to be released on July 2, 2014 by Sony Pictures/Screen Gems.
As previously reported, Young’s upcoming projects also include the comedies Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas and Single Moms Club. The Golden Globe-nominated composer has also scored the comedy Gods Behaving Badly starring Alicia Silverstone, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Christopher Walken, John Turturro, Sharon Stone, Oliver Platt & Edie Falco, which just premiered at the Rome Film Festival earlier this week. Young recently also arranged a new suite for his score from the comic book film adaptation of Ghost Rider, which premiered at film music label Varese Sarabande’s Halloween Gala last month.
