Stax Records will release a soundtrack album for the ABC hit drama Scandal. The album, entitled Songs from Scandal: Music for Gladiators, includes songs from the 70s featured in the first two seasons of the show by artists including Edwin Starr, Johnny Nash, KC and The Sunshine Band, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, Nina Simone, Sly & The Family Stone and Rufus & Chaka Khan. The soundtrack will be released on September 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Scandal created by Shonda Rhimes stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, a former media relations consultant to the President who left the White House to open her own firm, hoping to start a new career and a new personal life. Columbus Short, Guillermo Diaz, Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes, Tony Goldwyn, Jeff Perry, Bellamy Young and Joshua Malina. The first season is now available on DVD and the second season is set to be released on September 3. The third season of the drama will premiere on October 3, 2013 on ABC.
