John Paesano has signed on to score the upcoming sci-fi mystery drama The Maze Runner. The movie is based on the bestselling young adult novel by James Dashner and is set in a post-apocalyptic era where a group of teenage boys trapped in an enormous maze seek their freedom. The film is directed by Wes Ball and stars Dylan O’Brien, Will Poulter, Patricia Clarkson, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Jacob Lattimore, Ki Hong Lee, Blake Cooper and Aml Ameen. Noah Oppenheim wrote the screenplay for the Temple Hill Entertainment and the Gotham Group production. The movie marks Paesano’s first major studio feature film project. The Maze Runner is set to be released on February 14, 2014 by 20th Century Fox.
As reported earlier this year, Paesano whose previous credits include the animated TV show Dragons: Riders of Berk and the holiday special Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas is also scoring the NBC drama Crisis created by Rand Ravich (writer/director of The Astronaut’s Wife, creator of Life) and starring Gillian Anderson, Dermot Mulroney, Lance Gross and Rachael Taylor. The action thriller follows an unlikely puppeteer who will bring everyone from CEOs to the president of the United States to their knees by threatening the things they hold most dear. Ravich is executive producing the series with Far Shariat (Life, I Love You Phillip Morris) and Phillip Noyce (Salt, Patriot Games) who also helmed the pilot episode of the 20th Century Fox Television production. Crisis is set to premiere as a mid-season replacement on NBC and is currently scheduled to air on Sunday nights. For updates on the drama, visit the official series website.
