The board of the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) unanimously elected Emmy-winning composer Ashley Irwin as President for the 2013-2015 term. The Australian composer has been a board member since 2008 and has served on the Performing Rights Committee and as the Chairman of the Seminar Committee for the last four years. He succeeds TV composer Dan Foliart (7th Heaven, The Secret Life of the American Teenager) in the office who is stepping down after 10 years of service. Irwin is best known for his collaborations with Bill Conti on numerous Oscar shows and such features as Rocky Balboa, as well as his work with Clint Eastwood on films including J. Edgar and Hereafter. His latest feature film, The PardonĀ starring Jaime King and John Hawkes was released this past March. The other officers of the SCL include First Vice-President, Arthur Hamilton, Second Vice-President, Charles Bernstein, Recording Secretary, Jonathan Neal and Treasurer/CFO, Christopher Farrell.
