Sean Callery has scored the pilot for the CBS drama Backstrom. The show based on the Swedish book series by criminologist Leif G.W. Persson is created by Hart Hanson and follows on an overweight, offensive, irascible detective as he tries, and fails, to change his self-destructive behavior. The pilot stars Rainn Wilson, Dennis Haysbert, Mamie Gummer, Kristoffer Polaha, Page Kennedy, Beatrice Rosen, Thomas Dekker and Camryn Manheim. Hanson is executive producing the project with Persson and Niclas Salomonsson. Callery has previously collaborated with Hanson on the Fox hit drama Bones and its spinoff The Finder. CBS is expected to announce whether Backstrom will be picked up to series within the next couple of days.
Callery has also co-scored the pilot for the CBS drama Second Sight with Louis Febre (Smallville, Charlie’s Angels). The show based on the British series is created by Michael Cuesta and his brother, Gerald Cuesta and stars Jason Lee, Derek Luke, Christina Cole, Kim Dickens, Jill Scott, Erik Jensen and Madison Moellers. The pilot follows a lead detective with the New Orleans Police Department who is hiding the fact that he has an ocular disorder that causes him to have horrifying hallucinations. Michael & Gerald Cuesta are also executive producing the CBS Television production with Carol Mendelsohn (CSI, CSI: Miami), Julie Weitz, Nick Reed, Phil Goldfine and Paula Milne (I Dreamed of Africa). Callery is also scoring the Michael Cuesta- executive produced hit dramas Homeland and Elementary. A decision on whether Second Sight will be picked up for the 2013-2014 season is expected shortly
