Patrick Cassidy is currently recording his score for the Calvary. The film is written and directed by John Michael McDonagh and stars Brendan Gleeson, Kelly Reilly, David Wilmo, Chris O’Dowd, Domhnall Gleeson and Aidan Gillen. The movie follows a priest who is being tormented by his community and is told in the confessional that somebody is going to kill him within a week. The Reprisal Films production is produced by Chris Clark (Johnny English Reborn), Flora Fernandez-Marengo (The Guard) and Elizabeth Eves. The film marks McDonagh’s second directorial effort following 2011’s Brendan Gleeson-starring The Guard, which featured a score by Calexico. Cassidy is best known for composing the piece Vide Cor Meum for Ridley Scott’s Hannibal, which was also used in the director’s Kingdom of Heaven. His other film scoring credits include Kill the Irishman and the 2004 TV version of Salem’s Lot. The composer’s music is being recorded with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in Dublin, Ireland. Calvary is currently in post-production and is expected to be released later this year.
