Bear McCreary is the composer of the upcoming sci-fi thriller The Europa Report. The film is directed by Sebastián Cordero and stars Sharlto Copley (District 9), Michael Nyqvist, Daniel Wu, Anamaria Marinca, Christian Camargo and Karolina Wydra. The movie follows six astronauts who go to Jupiter’s fourth moon, Europa, to try to find extraterrestrial life. Philip Gelatt has written the screenplay and Ben Browning (It’s Kind of a Funny Story, Ondine) and Kevin Misher (Public Enemies, The Interpreter) are producing the Wayfare Entertainment and Misher films production. Cordero is best know for directing the 2004 crime thriller Chronicles. Europa Report marks his first collaboration with the Battlestar Galactica and The Walking Dead composer. A teaser trailer, which features original music from McCreary’s score is embedded below. No word yet on a release date.
McCreary’s music is also featured in the third season of The Walking Dead, which currently airs every Sunday night on AMC. The composer has also scored Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. The series premiered last week as an online series of 10 episodes. Check out the first episode below. The prequel will also air as a televised movie in February 2013 on Syfy.
