Atticus Ross is scoring the upcoming crime thriller Broken City. The film is directed by Allen Hughes (From Hell, Menace 2 Society) and stars Mark Wahlberg as a Brooklyn detective who is hired by a powerful politician, played by Russell Crowe, to identify his wife’s lover, who is subsequently found and killed. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kyle Chandler, Barry Pepper, Natalie Martinez, Alona Tal, Jeffrey Wright, Justin Chambers, James Ransone and Griffin Dunne are co-starring. Brian Tucker has written the screenplay and Wahlberg and Hughes are producing the New Regency and Emmett/Furla Films co-production with Randall Emmett & George Furla (16 Blocks, Righteous Kills) and Stephen Levinson (Contraband, Entourage). Allen Hughes has previously collaborated with Ross on the 2010 post-apocalyptic film The Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington and on the TV series Touching Evil. Broken City is set for a domestic release on January 18, 2013.
As previously reported, the Academy Award-winning composer (The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) also has the 3D martial arts fantasy adventure 47 Ronin coming up. The film is currently scheduled for a release on December 25, 2013.
