Stanley Clarke has composed the score for the upcoming cop drama Freelancers. The film is directed by Jessy Terrero (Soul Plane) and stars Robert De Niro, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Forest Whitaker, Ryan O’Nan, Dana Delany, Beau Garrett and Malcolm Goodwin. The movie follows the son of a murdered NYPD police officer who gains the patronage of his father’s former partner and joins his rogue task force. Jackson, Randall Emmett & George Furla (16 Blocks, Righteous Kill) are producing the Cheetah Vision and Emmett/Furla Films production. L. Philippe Casseus has written the project’s screenplay. The crime drama marks Clarke’s first scoring assignment in several years. His most recent credits include the 2008 films Soul Men starring Samuel L. Jackson & Bernie Mac and First Sunday starring Ice Cube. The composer who is also known as a jazz composer and bass player has previously written the scores for such hit films as Boyz n the Hood, Passengers 57, The Transporter and Romeo Must Die. No word yet on when the Freelancers will be released, but a trailer recently appeared online and can be checked out below.
