Mark Isham has been hired to score the pilot for the ABC drama Beauty and the Beast. The reimagining of the classic fairy tale stars Darius Campbell, F. Murray Abraham, Ruth Bradley, Chris Egan, Karen LeBlanc and Meegan Warner. The show written and executive produced by Jon Steinberg (Jericho, Human Target) is set in a dangerous world where a beautiful and tough princess discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast. Yves Simoneau (V, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) has directed the pilot of the ABC Studios production. Also executive producing is Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury) through his Mojo Films production company. Isham has previously collaborated with Fleder on several movies, including the thrillers Kiss the Girls and Don’t Say a World. He is also scoring ABC’s other fairy tale-themed show Once Upon a Time, which is about to air its first season finale. A decision on whether Beauty and the Beast will be picked up to series is expected within the next week. (Kraft-Engel Management)
Isham’s upcoming feature projects include the Nicolas Cage-starring thriller Stolen and the sci-fi romance Upside Down starring Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst.
